Comments on the Raj award speech !

Raj
In my opinion, Raj can handle the stage fright pretty well and i can see he pretty enjoy his presentation moment. He got my respect for that, he can easily catch people attention by his body movement and his speech. Maybe he got the talent to entertain the crowd. However, he always speak too fast when he is presenting. Maybe is one of his bad habits or he was over excited about it Besides that, he got a very rich gesture and body movement that can keep the audience attention all.

Cheers :)

Amelia'sTransitional Speech

2nd speech of Amelia of a mixture of bad luck n something to do about  life, 1st she got 5 pictures in one card which was hard enough nad to pick once out of them and talk something about it is kind of unfair on a 1st time speaker but i personally feel she gained valuable experince as in to always be prepared for anything in presentation skill class.

The nervous factor started to creap as she started to say the same thing twice and her eye contact was all over the place rather then making the audience focused on her, she was kind of expecting when the time will finish. Her body movement as if was so scared but some of the stuff she said should be taken into consideration such as

"cycle of life n people die everyday, live life to the fullest and do what they should do cause life is short you only live once"

she has point there which shows that she can deliver just with more effort need to be put in and i still stand by my 1st comment that she can be a good speaker. ^^
Congratulation upon winning the best photographer award Jasnitha. Anyway, i'm going to comment on Jasnitha speech. Basically she did better than few times before (at least she speaks longer in front). By getting used to the class will indeed give her more confirdent to speak out in front, try and loosen yourself more, be confident, and you will without any doubt perform well. Continue working on your confident.

comment on Raj's Award speech.

Raj won the miss.Bitchy (:

i was wondering how and what Raj going to say
and he came up with this , i was shocked and yes, it makes me laugh out loud.
he act seriously like a bitch , gossip here and there and every movement he has did has made the whole class laugh and i bet everyone is waiting him to say every single word , so do i.
i was so excited when i actually know it's his turn to give the speech on the reward because every of his speech is awesome.
so for me , everything is just perfect (:
keep it up Raj , you will be the best comedy speaker :P

Comment on Sarah's Award Speech

Sarah won the Miss Control Freak award.
She is naturally a quiet and shy girl, so i was really surprised when came up in front of the whole class and played the 'Ms.Control Freak' character. Because she is a soft spoken person, its hard for the ones sitting at the back of the class to hear what she says. Her expressions are pretty animated as well, she just needs to stay calm. I really love her expressions! so, sarah! what you need to do is speak louder & be a bit more calm :)

Aileena award speech

As we all know.. Aileena is a person who can speaks well in front of a huge crowd. And this is what i admired about here. She can just present anything well. So for the award presentation, Aileena was nominated as the dramatic mother.. and of cause, she can bring out the dramatic mother role very well.. So I would say she did a great job that day. Her acting was fine and it would be better if she can be more motherly like more scolding scene and lower down her tone of voices, so that the motherly could be seen more lively.
And for her gesture movements, I think it was fine.

And again, I would like to say that aileena have done a good job eventhough she do not the motherly look but she able to carried it out. So just keep up the good work!

Comment on June's Speech during Award Ceremony

June won 'Miss Rainbow'! She was actually suppose to win 'Miss Bitchy' because it was actually her real title, but no matter what title she had, she was suitable for both awards. Well, for her speech, i think she was quite nervous because i think she did not know what to say for being a rainbow person but all she did was smile and thank people, which is actually what Miss Rainbow is all about! Halfway through, she got stuck, she did not know what to say but she managed to finish her speech. June is actually a very good speaker, she can do presentations, but sometimes, you just do not what to say even though you have rehearsed the lines so many times. So, i could understand why sometimes June will just stop and stare. All I have to say is do not be nervous June! Be yourself and put on your awesome smile when you are presenting and i am sure you will do great!(Look whose talking)*giggles*

Comment on Jeremy's Transitional Speech

As we all know, Jeremy is known as a very loud person, he has a saying in everything, which is good because it will make him a better presenter when it comes to presentations. The picture that Jeremy got for his speech was a picture of a plate of chicken rice. When he saw the picture, he did not know what to say, but in the end, he came up with a speech about him going out with his family to eat chicken rice for dinner to this shop where they could actually pick their own chicken and one day his father ate the chicken's skin until he had a heart attack and died. Everyone was shock when he said that but then again for me, he did a good job for even having a story about it because if it was me, i will be stuck with no word coming out from my mouth. It might not be the best speech from him but he just has to think about a better speech and be creative and just say what he wants to say. Other than that, I think he did a good job as usual! *two thumbs up*

Comment on Caryn's speech during the Award Ceremony

As I know in person, Caryn is quite talkactive when she's with her friends. But when comes to talk in front of a lot of people by using English, she'll be very scared as I know her English is not that good. Well, that day I was actually quite worried about her, although I was very nervous too and I did not do quite well that day; because of her English, but turned out, she was quite good. I think there's still a lil bit nervous when she's talking, but she added in some humors into the speech. That was very good I think personally. I think if she has a very good English, I think she would become a good speaker because she loses her confidence when she thinks that her English is poor. Don't let the fear get over you, nobody was born to have good English. As I've said, don't let the fear get over you, you can use simple English to present and nobody will tease or laugh at you. If there are people who do that, just ignore them because you're trying to present, and as much as you  know you've tried your best so don't bother what others will think about your speech. Overall, I think that day she was quite good. Keep it up Caryn. You go, girl (:

No hard feelings yea :D

Raj's Transitional Speech

Raj is naturally a funny guy, so i think he doesn't have to put any effort to make the whole class laugh. When Raj got the cat with a watermelon helmet on, i was really curious on what he's going to say. He really did pull it of well. I feel that the audience would genuinely want to hear what he has to say knowing whatever that comes out of this guy's mouth will make them laugh. He isn't shy going up in front of the class and talking. He does seem confident. I wish all of us could be as spontaneous as he is! wouldn't that be sooo much easier?

:)

Comment on Sarah's transitional speech

The very first impression Sarah gave me was a shy person. But she's not that shy when you get to know her longer in person. But whenever there's any presentations or when lecturers asked her questions, she'll be very shy and all the thing she does was smile. Is a good thing to always put on a smile on the face when you're doing presentation, but she doesn't really talk much and as we can see she's really very shy to speak up. She has to get rid of stage fright so that she can improve and keep up with the smile, Sarah. Yet, don't forget, people might get bored as the presentation goes on, because you don't really show your personality and I know you have a very good english when you're writing essay. And you should put that in your presentation too. Confidence and self-esteem, and have the guts to speak up is what you need. Nobody is gonna say that whatever you said is wrong or right, just go up there, present what you've prepared. I know you don't like impromptu speeches but don't be scare, whatever that's on your mind, just say it out.

That's all (:

Thursday, August 19, 2010

i wanted to comment on Aileena's transitional presentation. Aileena, is a everyone know person which is extremely confident, daring speaker. I think basically what we all lack of is her confident towards her ownself. Whatever make a speech interesting other than the content is your confident. Being confident is somehow making the speech more convincing, thus we will tend to focus on the central route to persuation, meaning focus more on the content itself rather than focus on the speaker. Being confident is one matter, being over confident is another matter, it is important for one to measure his/her confident wisely.

comments on jasnitha for the transitional presentation

First and foremost, everyone is not born to be a speaker, whereby there have the confidence, courage and has lots of topics which is endless to talk about. Therefore, sometimes people will feel shy, scare or nervous when hundreds of eyes are on us!

So, what i want to comment about Jasnitha was, she is nervous or perhaps the combination of shy. But i know Jasnitha can even do better! When she scolds.. she can scold! Haha. So why not treat the presentation as someone you hate and bring out the courage and get rid of the fear away when present! Like for example, when all the students were given 1 minute to talk, she dint talk much and the presentation just ends like that. So since this is the presentation skills, all of us have to speak out loud! I know Jas has tried her best to present! But somehow, is still not enough! so..and again, speak out, and this is how it works~

cheers,
shermaine

comment on ShermAINE!

Basically Shermaine used a Hand phone to describe herself. She said that she's like the button on the handphone.on means her mood is on,very happy off means very down. Her mood can change very easily at anytime.Ya i totally agree with that. When shes down, its very obvious for the others to find out because her face will show either the word "down" or "happy".
But, i think Shermaine should use some other thing to better describe her own personality or character. Hand phone doesnt really show who is she. I have a very good idea that she should describe herself as the haze or cloud. As people know cloud or haze is blurish. It is not solid. Shermaine is a truly deeply madly BLUR person. She's as blur as the haze or clouds. Her respond is very slow and she's not aware of the surroundings. When people are already top of the hill she's still at her house starting to walk only. So,this really prove that how blur is she. last but not least, she has this very SERIOUS sickness at her age which people should feel pity about is she has short term memory.
Shermaine should at more emotions and also sense of humor during her presentation in order to keep it more interesting. Maybe she can try to act cute?=) Anyway Shermaine dont be nervous when you are in front! Keep it up!!

comment on darshni's speach

Our class mate, Darshni talked about her purse. and nicely she related it to her life stle.
in the beginning as she said she was a very organised person.
later the influence of her nice purse and many different parts of it became her as a un-organised person, as a result.

In my point of view Darshni presented it well at the begining, but in some parts her confidence was verry little, which makes her uncomfortable to continiue the speach. And she began to laugh as well as u all know. later she was like in a rush. She wanted to finish off her speach with out relaxation.
I think if she is concentrated on what se is trying to tell us would make her expression better insted of laughing. And also do not let others to suspect that you are having lack of confidence.
If any one's face is disturbing you try not to look at them. I think looking at the gaps in between two person makes you feel better while you present. Also u can manage the eye contect as well.

It's just my opinion dear, nothing personal.
thanks :)

Comments on Han En's presentation.

Hello! It has been a great week in presentation skill's class, getting to know the seniors and getting along with them was fun and full with laughters. :D

Anyway, lets talk about our first activity in class. We were asked to present ourself with an item we can find around us. Han En chose her Ipod to relate to her personalities saying that she is fun and other interesting characteristics, especially the part where she relate it to the Ipod's shuffle mode saying that she can be random at times and what caught my attention was her way of presenting it and her smile. She is well prepared for her speech/presentation so there isn't much i can comment about but she can try presenting it louder in the next presentation because there are some part wasn't really clear and besides that there are much more she/us must learn before being a good presenter.

Cheers!

Adrian :)

Comments on Ezekiel and HIS CAR

I picked Ezekiel because I thought his little speech was quite interesting in its own way :) His entrance onto 'stage' and facial expression before he even started his speech was enough to catch everybody's attention and keep us wondering what he was gonna say. When Ezekiel started his speech, he had this unique way of expressing himself to tickle our funny bones and keep us focused. He spoke slowly word by word and emphasized the term 'THE CAR' probably like 5000 times in that short 5 minutes which was pretty entertaining. But I think he could have spoken louder with more confidence to highlight the content of his speech. :D

Comment on Jasnitha

Jasnitha used her own brownish diary for her presentation last week. It was very smart of her using the diary as I know her in person, she's very well-organized person. Whatever the lecturer told us or wanted us to take note about particular things, she'll take note and whoever doesn't really know what's going on in the class, she's the right person to ask. I find it quite good because it was very relevant to what Miss Cheryl asked us to present in the presentation.

But Jasnitha was too shy and nervous that she talked very soft which is quite different when she's talking to us. So I think she should let go the stage-fright and just imagine that she's talking to friends, share everything about her and know more about her. And in the end, when she's almost finishing, she was hesitating that is her speech done, is it okay. I think she should be more confident and I know when the time goes on, I'm sure she will improve. So Jas, just don't be too nervous, talk to us like we're all your good friends. And one more thing, relax your body and don't keep shaking. Because it's kinda distracted while you're talking plus your voice was quite soft.

That's all. Jas, no hard feelings yea. Am just trying to be honest and want to help you so that you can improve.

From: June <3

*posted it on Friday night, but touched up a bit. So I re-post again*

comment of felicia speech

Felicia she very cute, when the presentation start she will become very shy and don't know what she talking about. Then it would same with me. After that, she use the guitar related to her, i think it would suit for her because her moods will same with guitar, sometimes moods will high, sometimes very down :(
Finally, in my opinion, hope felicia can usually have a happy moods and when presentation don't be shy and scare for miss lol^^

from: kah yin
A comment on Raj's speech.

Let me recap a little about his speech. Basically he used his "tail" as his item of resemblance. He said, people who leave a "tail" behind the head would seen as gangster or hooligan by other people, but in fact, he is not involving in any gangsterism or any crimes. He said, he is actually a very nice person if you know him, he is friendly eventhough with a "tail"on his head, and he is easily approached. From my point of view to his speech, overall the speech was indeed hilarious, but one thing that is, not everyone thinks that people with "tail" are bad guys. Although some might think so, but for me, i think he is quite a nice person to be with, especially when you need laughter. Continue with the way of you giving speech, it will indeed brings a lot of fun and laughter to everyone who are listening to your speech.

comment about Sam

I’m gonna have a brief comment of what I think of Sam. Sadly, I was present for only one day for the presentation skill class and the other day I was absent due to my terrible cold which would mean I missed a number of people presenting their awesome speech J I’m sorry miss L I chose Sam cause somebody already pick Amelia, so 1st come 1st serve L what I thought of Sam's presentation was, I thought he wasn't nervous at all cause I could see the way he stand and the way he talks were all very cool. But somehow, I feel that his voice is a little bit mono-toned which, I think, could be improved. Although this is an impromptu speech, Sam knows what he was saying but I feel that it was a little bit drag-ish. Well that’s what I feel, again, nothing personal. To conclude, I honestly think Sam has the potential to be a good speaker, he just needs to touch up a little.

Comment on Kah Yin

She used digital dictionary related to her problem. She was shy while presenting. She told that she having language problem. I think the only problem is she lack of self-confidence, especially when she presenting. In my opinion, she has improved since she study in college. She makes many efforts on improving English all the time through her digital dictionary, it helps her very much.

Well, Kah Yin has no problem in language, but she has to develop self-confidence. It is believed that she will does better in following presentations.

Comment on Adrian Leong

Adrian was chosen as the lucky number 1 and I have to say he was good but I thought it could be better. He was very spontaneous when he had to speak in front of everyone and there were signs of panic or nervous when he was relating himself to his handphone. As the saying goes, "No man is an island," Adrian uses his handphone often to keep in touch with his friends.

However, words like "basically" and "besides that" were repeated quite a few times but of course this can be overcome after a few presentations. Overall, Adrian did quite a good job *two thumbs up*

Comment on Lin Yng

Lin Yng had used her camera as an object to relate to her personality.
I think that what she said was true, which is she's a very friendly girl :)
She loves to take pictures wherever she goes, not only of herself but others as well. And, she is most of the time non-camera-shy and is always ready to pose for the camera! vO.Ov
That shows that Lin Yng is not only friendly, but is also a fun person to be with :)

Other than that, I could see that Lin Yng was being quite nervous while she gave her speech, which I am very sure that most of us did as well. So, i guess that's not a big issue at all and hopefully all of us will improve on our presentation skills very soon. :)

Comment on Vivian

Vivian talked about the eyeliner to represent herself. In my opinion, I can see that she'd did some preparations before the presentation from the way she presents her speech about the eyeliner. However, I noticed that Vivian was still quite nervous when she was presenting in front until she run out of ideas to talk. Besides, Vivian did cross her legs while presenting but once she noticed about it she will automatically uncrossed it. She did quite well but I expect her to perform much better than this as she can speak very fluently in many kind of language and she's very creative. I think after a few more presentations, she will be able to overcome the stage fright, be more confident and would definitely perform well.

comment on han en

i am gonna comment on han en (:

obviously she did her preparation before she start her speech
it's very clear and she actually related everything of an Ipod to herself
Ipoh has a shuffle mode and she related it to the random her (;
it's very creative
for me , she did a very good job as she also got a good feedback from Ms.Cherly

han en take this speech very serious
she even told me she was so nervous and didn't know what to talk about
but she came up with an awesome idea
and seriously , i love it :D
keep this attitude han en , you gonna be a successful person because of this.

Comment About Amelia *Nothing Personal* ^^

Before starting off my critic, I would like to take this opportunity to make a brief explanation about COM2115 is where I learn my presentation skill which is lectured by Ms. Cheryl who is a well know ed lecturer in INTI. It was a great pleasure being reunited with her after being teached by her for Law and Research paper. In the 1st week itself for presentation class we were made to make a brief speech regarding something significant part of us or relating to us.14 people which included me made the speech and were told to choose a person upon doing the speech and criticize them, the person that I choose is Amelia who in my opinion has a potential to be a good speaker but started off her 1st presentation by saying that she had nothing to say, which indicates she was not prepared when called upon or in this case spontaneous speech.

Putting the nervous factor beside she did made to come up with a significant part of her which was the necklace but she was very casual upon giving the presentation, it can be seen that she was pretty nervous like everyone else as well. Her standing position showed that she was relaxed and was more like having a casual talk with friends. By the ending off the speech im pretty sure that all of us came to know that she is a very sentimental person, overall all of us who made the speech had mistake's all over the place in my opinion and this where Ms.Cheryl will guide to improve us and make us a good speaker if possible in the future.

Miracle Worker by Taylor Mali

The speech is given by Taylor Mali, a slam poetry perfomer from New York City. The video entitled as Miracle Worker tells about the profession about teacher. He is a former teacher in a boys school. And now he is conducting workshops for teachers and students all over the world.

In my opnion, he looks very confident on what he is talking about. As we can see, he have no notes in his hands. That shows that he clearly know on what he is talking about. He is talking about his profession of teacher and what does a teacher do. Since he is former teacher he have no problem in telling the audience about his experiences.

He is not afraid to make jokes and during the speech the audience enjoyed his joke and gets what he trying to say. He looks very confortable on the stage in front of large crowds. The way he delivering the speech is very interesting as we can the tone he used from low pitch to a higher ptich. He grabs the attention of the audience very well. I personally feels that this is very entertaining and interesting.

Comment on Shermaine:)

My friend, Shermaine talked about her handphone and how it relates to herself. Well, first she started of saying that she always has a strap on her handphone, it shows that her parents are always very protective over her. For example, she wouldn't let her drive. Then, she said that her mood is always on and off, just like the on and off button and that her handphone has many buttons which means she has a lot of siblings and they will always be there to help her whenever she needs them.

In my opinion, Shermaine actually did quite well, and her feedback from Miss Cheryl was good too. The only thing that Miss Cheryl said was that she tend to move her legs when she is presenting and also, towards the end of presenting, it was as though she could not wait to get it over with. Maybe it was because of the nerves, I am sure, after a while of standing in front and presenting in front of the whole class, she would feel more comfortable and she would do great! :)

comment on bonnie

Bonnie uses her HTC handphone to represent herself. Handphone of course has many functions where everyone nowadays depends on it to communicate and sends messages. And she relates of the importance of the handphone to herself. It is very true when i need help, not only me but other people too, she will help when it is within her ability too.

So when the moment she says it, she really shows her expression and emotions, so it do shows the sincerity of her to help people. Therefore, she also says that the handphone has many buttons where it represents she has many friends.

However, if she able to add more varieties in her speeches as she is a really funny person, I think her speech will be great! so keep up the good humour in you Bonnie~!

Comment on Hanz

Hanz talked about her Bangle and how it related to herself.

In my opinion, the way she was able to relate her personality with the bangle was very creative. She said she is strong headed ; the bangle is very hard, she may not be very girlie; the bangle bangle has flowers on it, but it is black.

Overall, she seemed confident although she kept glancing towards the floor quite a number of times. I think if she feels more comfortable standing in front of the class, she'd be able to overcome the nerves.
