Short forms are used by almost everyone ever since they get their first mobile phone or instant messaging account just to follow the trend and because it is convenient. But short forms are indirectly affecting our command of our language especially English. Actions must be taken to prevent any unecessary common mistakes either in school or in work, afterall using short forms is a bad habit and not worth learning. I've created a survey to gather informations and to support my speech.
Survey questions.
1) Do you use short forms in your messages? Eg: Instead of “YOU” you’ll type “U”.
2) IF you do so, may I know why? Is it because it is convenient or other reason?
3) When did you start using short forms in messages?
4) What do you think about short forms? Is it a good or a bad thing?
5) Have you ever encounter this situation where when you’re writing your essay, you somehow use short forms in your essays too just because you’re too used to it?
6) I somehow feel that short forms are affecting our daily use languages, what do you think? Do you agree on this statement?
Warmest regards,
Adrian Leong :)
